The feature Make Number Private better known as CLIR in ShoreTel PBX is not working out of the box in Germany / Europe on ISDN and PRI lines. You can solve this by altering the Trunk Group Dialing Rules of your ShoreTel system.
- Log into your ShoreTel Shoreware Director with *** Support Enty *** mode.
- Open Shoreware Director Login page in your web browser
- Hold down the keys CTRL + SHIFT (German: STRG + SHIFT)
- Click the underlined U in User ID once
- A red line appears below the login named *** Support Enty ***
- Now you have full power over your system...
- Now login with admin
- Go to Trunks > Trunk Groups > Name and Edit PRI Trunk Group
- On the bottom you see the previously hidden section Trunk Group Dialing Rules.
- Click the Edit button next to Custom
- Enter
;66E
and press Save - Logout to make sure you run without support entry from now.
In Germany and Switzerland the Custom Dialing Rule string is ;66E
and you should not miss the leading semicolon and don't add trailing semicolons. I cannot speak for other countries, but this works for Versatel if you are connected to a Nokia switch at Telco side. We have also seen this working in Switzerland with Swisscom. In this case a conditional Make Me Private is possible with a BCA, but the well known prefix *31#
used in Europe to make the number private cannot dialed as ShoreTel does not allow #
in dialstrings.
UPDATE 01/20/2012: After we switched on Versatel side to Siemens EWSD switches the ;66E
is no longer working. We also disabled the previously configured FlipRNIE and Enable Original Caller Information and set the Custom Trunk Group Dialing Rules to ;3E
but this does not support Make Me Private yet. TAC said they are not supporting the Make Me Private flag that need to be set on ISDN!? 5 years in European market and still no support! Therefore we currently have no solution for this feature since we have been migrated to Siemens EWSD. But now ClipNoScreening is working properly, that was broken with the Nokias. The last is more important to us than Make Me Private that is now broken. If Make Me Private has been enabled, currently the base PRI number is send to the far end.
